Independent Research
 

The Studienkreis für Tourismus und Entwicklung carries out independent research projects more or less regularly (sometimes in co-operation with a partner organisation).

Emphasis is given to investigation and research of conditions, phenomena and effects of tourism development as well as identification of chances and risks in relation to sustainable tourism development.

Examples of the investigated subjects are (some of them not yet finished):

  • Appraisal and projection of development of long-haul travel until 2005 (a Delphi-questionnaire)

  • Responsiveness of the German population concerning nature and environment related to holiday travelling (survey representative for the German population)

  • Responsiveness of the German population concerning violations of Human Rights in travel destinations (survey representative for the German population)

  • Responsiveness of the German population concerning intercultural learning on holiday (survey representative for the German population)

  • Awareness of "the strange" on holiday (qualitative investigation)

  • Tourism in developing countries (comprises quantitative and qualitative aspects)

  • Experiences and requirements of the German population concerning tour guides/attendance on holiday (survey representative for the German population)


  • Opinions about the effects of holiday tourism in developing countries (survey representative for the German population)
