Seefeld, 24/05/2016 – The German Institute for Tourism and Development (Studienkreis für Tourismus und Entwicklung) regularly conducts two international contests. In May, a new round was launched for both the TO DO! – International Contest Socially Responsible Tourism (project contest) and the TOURA D’OR – Film Contest for Sustainable Tourism.

The TO DO! 2017 is the 22nd one to be launched. Every year since 1995, public institutions, tourism businesses or other entities/individuals have been able to apply with existing projects, products and measures they have implemented. Above all, the projects, products and measures should take the interests of the local population into account by actively involving local people in the planning and implementation of the projects in an exemplary manner. This also includes fair remuneration, training, strengthening of local culture as well as measures that contribute to sustainable tourism development.

Having been selected by a jury and checked by an expert on location, the winners will be awarded with a TO DO! at the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) in March 2017 in Berlin. Deadline for application: 31 August, 2016. Please find the conditions of participation and the application form at www.to-do-contest.org (in German and English).

Cooperation partner: Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Bread for the World – Tourism Watch, forum anders reisen, ITB Berlin, Swiss Foundation for Solidarity in Tourism, Studiosus Reisen München GmbH

Prize Money: The Swiss Foundation for Solidarity in Tourism will give 5,000 Swiss Francs to each of the winners.

Since 1990, the TOURA D´OR has been organised every two years. It is open to film makers (producers, directors, editors, executive producers/financiers) of tourism related films. The TOURA D’OR is awarded to productions in different categories which promote socially responsible, environmentally friendly, sustainable tourism. The entries must be in German or English language and the date of finalisation must have been after 1 January, 2014. Entries may also include productions that are only available online.

Having been selected by a jury, the TOURA D‘OR winners will be awarded with a TOURA D’OR at the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) in March 2017 in Berlin. Deadline for application: 30 September, 2016. Please find the conditions of participation and the application form at www.tourador-contest.org (in German and English).
