TO DO!2012 Award Ceremony on 6 March in Berlin

This year's award ceremony for the renowned TO DO! Award Socially Responsible Tourism will take place on 6 March during ITB Berlin.

The TO DO! will again honour tourism projects for their outstanding engagement in realising socially responsible tourism development. The international contest is organised by the Institute for Tourism and Development (Studienkreis für Tourismus und Entwicklung e.V.) and supported by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Protestant Agency for Diaconia and Development/ Tourism Watch, ITB Berlin, Studiosus Reisen München GmbH, forum anders reisen and by the Swiss Foundation for Solidarity in Tourism which also donates prize monies.
In the 18th round of the TO DO! contest, 17 projects from 14 countries applied. This year the expert jury selected two projects, which were each visited by consultants. Both experts confirmed the positive impressions the jury got from the applications submitted, so that both projects can be given the award.
"We are pleased with the high quality of all the projects, which made the selection difficult, even though the number of applications was small," said Birgit Steck, Managing Director of Studienkreis.
For the first time, the award ceremony will take place in hall 4.1 on the main stage. Studienkreis may expect at this new location even more interest from trade visitors. The award winning projects will thus get a larger forum to promote their tourism product and to build contacts with new partners.
