For the 18th time, the Studienkreis für Tourismus und Entwicklung e.V. (Institute for Tourism and Development) worldwide announces the TO DO! - Contest Socially Responsible Tourism. Enterprises and public or private institutions which take into account in their tourism activities the interests and needs of the local population, are welcome to apply.
The TO DO! wants to point out exactly how important it is that the people's voices count and that they can participate in tourism in many ways, not only economically. Many building blocks contribute to a self-determined, sustainable development in the destination, and tourism represents one of them. Not any kind tourism can contribute to achieve this; i.e. tourism that is able to strike a healthy balance between opportunities and risks and links development with environmental aspects and social responsibility.
The winners will receive their awards and the prize money in March 2013, during ITB in Berlin - after a thorough selection process by a jury and an on-site check.
